Lung transplantation is the only curative therapy for many end stage respiratory patients. Our department of Thoracic Surgery has been offering this technique to our patients for more than 20 years, over 700 hundred procedures accumulated.
This 3 days course is a unique oportunity to deepen in all aspects of lung transplantation and to perform lung extractions, implantations and exvivo evaluations of cadaveric lung grafts in the Anatomy Department from the Medicine Faculty of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
It is specially focused on specialist surgeons and residents interested in acquiring the knowledge and technical skills required to carry out a lung transplant procedure.
At the end of the course the participants will have been able to carry out first hand extractions, pulmonary exvivo evaluations and lung transplants as well as lobars with grafts from corpses preserved with the technique W. Thiel.
